Ramallah (page 5 and end of story)

Based on any tourist guide there is no real tourist sites to see in Ramallah but I have to go to a place with the name of Ramallah. I was sold on the Raaaa in Ramallah. Being a bit disappointed of Palestine’s fighting spirit, Ramallah would be the turning point. Not pretty, actually kind of ugly, with water containers on the roof almost being the most elegant. It’s the dynamic nature, from Stars and Bucks to the art scene, which is the big difference from other parts of Palestine. The dynamic feeling of wanting to change was everywhere. Come on Palestine.
On the way out I had to pass a mayor Israeli checkpoints, barely different from a border crossing, so at least that’s in place if a solution is ever found. Normal x-ray check, no problem, then my passport was taken and I had to wait. No problem but when all other people just went by, without problems, I was thinking that’s a bit strange. Danish passport is supposed to be quite good. After an hour or so a girl came out, gave me back my passport, and said “you should change – it looks weird” This time I sincerely hope she was only referring to my Afghan dress. With all the comments on my Afghan dress, I, for the future of the world, choose to believe the Italians, as if we can’t trust the Italians on aesthetics, we are not only financially doomed, but, ladies and gentleman, it is all over!
At the border I started talking to a Palestinian girl who showed to be the Ramallah of Palestinians. The dynamic person I missed in Hebron and Jericho. Always smiling and intelligent to talk to. A light on my tour but also in her village, as she was the only person studying at the university to be a dentist. A pleasure to meet you miss.
So in the end, after a lot of experiences, I believe, all will be fine. I seen Ramallah and the bright future of the Palestinians in the girl at border. Maybe not this year or the next 10 years, but one day all will be fine.
The trip home to Kandahar went smoothly, maybe blessed by somebody in the holy land.
